"Extant" is a futuristic thriller that follows a female astronaut who tries to reconnect with her family when she returns after a year in outer space. Her experiences lead to events that ultimately change the course of human history.
"Extant is a very original concept with layers of humanity, mystery and surprise that reveal itself throughout the script," said Nina Tassler, President of CBS Entertainment. "Our partnership with Amblin for Under the Dome showed that viewers respond to high-quality event programming in the summer. We look forward to building on that with Extant and offering CBS audiences another high-concept, unique event for summer television."
Steven Spielberg will executive-produce "Extant" alongside Greg Walker, Brooklyn Weaver, Justin Falvey, Darryl Frank and Mickey Fisher, who will also pen the project.

cancelled :(
The more the show goes on , the more the bad acting coming from Halle Berry is shining through and the lack of depth (story and character) is showing. Every episode is filled with these super naive looks, bad shaky emotional lip faces and even worse judgement calls like it's a horror flic. It's a shame for such a show with a great theme, potential and other good actors.
The show wants to be an A-series but doesn't even get close to amaze
Renewed.
Yeah, couldn't believe it myself.

Just saw last episode. This show has great potential, i really hope it will be renewed.
@saltzman I didn't find it slow paced, more like character driven and I like this kind of show the way it is.
@Mantrhax it's on CBS. Sorry, no boobs for you.
ok the show need some aliens and some boobs..come on
There better be aliens in that show!!
I agree that it raised enough questions to keep viewers coming back, but this type of show can't survive with slow-paced episodes like the pilot, which felt so lazy overall, so I hope things get a bit faster in the next couple of episodes.
I don't agree whit you i think that show promises and it has a fine pilot which raises some questions which need to be answered and that is all what pilot for this tipe of show should do...
First Impression: This show will get cancelled at the end of the first season, a bit boring
I hope it'll surprise me on the next episodes, but I'm keeping my hopes down
