Based on novels by author Jeff Lindsay, Dexter follows the life of Dexter Morgan (Michael C. Hall), a charismatic blood spatter analyst who works in the forensics at the Miami Metro Police Department. On the outside, Dexter seems like the perfect guy -- he has a sister, Debra (Jennifer Carpenter), that adores him and a steady girlfriend, Rita (Julie Benz), with two kids that look up to him. However, what they don't know is that Dexter moonlights as a serial killer, only he isn't your typical killer. Basing his life on the teachings of his foster father, Dexter only kills people who truly deserve it: he ensures that those who got away with horrible crimes will never kill again.

Naah, I don't think so. I hated this season in overall, but I must say it sparked an interest for the next one. What's with the hand? I want answers!
@colorblind90 Again totally agreeing on that.
I think that this intern will be the next season murderer :) And he's gonna be like VGK- Video Game Killer :D

Yeah, there are two more full seasons, which should be the last two. I read, in an interview with someone behind the show, that they are doing things at the end of this season that are supposed to have huge effects on the rest of the show. Basically... They are setting up some of the ending now.
If you notice something happening now, it could be that it is meant to lead into something later. Dexter going mad, for example, could be the beginning of his possible ending.
The way that the creator has been talking, I would say each character is getting set up for the possible final two seasons. Here is a great article that talks a bit about it. I personally think they are gearing up for the end, with the knowledge of when that will be. That is a good thing as the stories already seem to be in motion.
@quartoxuma There are at least two seasons more I've heard so that would be hard
Not sure what you people are complaining about. To me, S06 convinced me Dexter has still got the juice. One of the best seasons overall
I am pretty confused about this whole season but next episode should be mind blowing
I think either Dexter is going crazy or the writers are. I do hope that there is a bigger plan, because Dexter is behaving very strange this season. Maybe they want to let Dexter turn mad, so he will be caught and sentenced to death so there is an ending that sticks to the "moral codex"?
"Get Gellar"... getting some decent writers would be better
I don't think this season is that bad.
Spoiling S06E09:
SHOW SPOILER
There's an interesting villain and at least two interesting plottwists with the auction-arm and Gellar being dead.
"Get Gellar" was pretty good.

"Dexter has been renewed for two more seasons, Showtime announced on Friday. Star Michael C. Hall has also inked a deal to return."
"The series is bigger than it's ever been in its sixth season, both in terms of audience and its impact on the cultural landscape," Showtime president David Nevins said in a statement. "Together with Michael, the creative team on the show has a very clear sense of where they intend to take the show over the next two seasons."
Dexter's been renewed for 2 more seasons!! Yay!!
@Retriev3r I'm also massively disappointed, but it -could- still redeem itself. I plan to stick with it anyway, like Kakature has been doing. Just to see the end of the show now, if nothing else. I think we should hold out :)
I love Dexter since years, so I don't want to be too negative here.
But I have to say: I am so f?#*ing disappointed in S6 that I am thinking about to stop watching it till the last remaining episodes have aired - then watch them all in fast motion. :/
And someone please give Jennifer Carpenter (Debra) a Golden Globe/Emmy/etc. for her outstanding performance in every single episode.

s06e06 was fantastic!!!
The last seconds of S06E07! *clap clap clap*.
Wow, the Promo for the new episode is just...awesome. Totally got goosebumps for those 30 seconds.
Somthing is bothering me. SHOW SPOILER Dexter is turning from someone who kills the ones who escaped justice to just those who didn't get a trial at all. By the looks of it he'll kill The Doomsday Killer by the end of the season (unless brother Sam can make him 'see the light'), while the killer won't ever have a trial. That's not in line with his code I think.
(mini spoiler on S06E05)
Dexter should have shared the discovery on the angel wings with his colleagues, and then Travis' name. Then when his urges arise he should find an old case that is unsolved and kill that killer, which would be in line with the code.
Just watched S06E05
