You are wasting your life NOT watching TV.

@lizzymaxia oh i totally get that. there seriously are a lot of we came back from the dead shows. haha. granted they all are different (minus the remakes like this one) but it can get repetitive seeing them all. and we have enough shows as it is. :P
@killmotion Thank you :) It's true, sometimes remakes are succesful stories (The Office, The Killing, Being Human, I even started enjoying Sirens after a while) and I'm glad The Returned is finding its path, too... but I think this time I'm gonna pass. I've been thinking and... I don't know when (or if) we're getting the 2nd season of Les Revenants, but by the time we get it I wouldn't want my viewing to be influenced by the remake, if you know what I mean? But most importantly, after watching two seasons of Resurrection recently, I'm done with these kind of stories for now. Thanks for getting back to me, though. Feel free to share your thoughts about the rest of the season if you want :)
so the us version of the returned is diverging a bit from the french show after a few eps, the pilot and second were quite a page for page copy...but while there are still a LOT of similarities, they've made a few tweaks in character profiles so far. i think they're slowly trying to make it their own. and i know from watching a lot of remakes i know that that can happen. if you ever watched being human uk and us, the us one started off so similar to the uk one, but by the second season it was it's own thing. it found its footing and by the end of the series i dearly loved it for what it became. its own thing. but this is still just a fresh series, finding how to be its own thing. i'd say it's still a toss up on whether you'd wanna see it. so i'll keep watching the rest of this season and let you know if they start to completely morph into their own story, separate from the french original.
Hey you ;)
[I'm sorry for disappearing from the face of the world but my computer died :( I finally got it back after more than a month this week, but there's still something wrong with it (it won't connect to internet, which is the most important thing, but I'm also hoping it's nothing too serious and it won't take my computer guy another month to fix, so I might be back in a couple of days...)
I hope you're doing well <3]
Great list! I haven't seen some of them, but I'm definitely looking forward to fixing it.
More suggestions:
11. Pride and Prejudice (1995)
12. I always wanted to try 1998 version of Wuthering Heights, but I'm not sure how easy/hard it will be to find.
13. Tipping the Velvet
14. Cranford (2007)
15. Elizabeth I (2005)
16. does The Devil's Whore count as the costume drama? I've been meaning to rewatch it for ages.
...there's definitely more, but I'm too tired to think :D
I'm pretty busy this weekend too, so maybe we can start after Holidays again? Or whenever you want :)
Your Futurama quote in the sidebar is so accurate. It speaks to me on a spiritual level.
Oh, should I watch Forbrydelsen too? I wasn't going to, because I'm not really good with non-English shows, but I just found it with Czech dubbing, so I was wondering if it's worth watching...
A RATING MANUAL BY ME (part 2)
- 1 star is for ridiculously awful things, and they can be awful for a number of reasons: silly and unbelievable plots, stupid decisions, offensive comments, unnecessary violence, etc. That doesn't mean that every episode with, let's say, a rape joke (and those are never funny), will automatically get 1 star, but it may be the reason why said episode will get 1 star less from me.
- I also tend to compare episodes (of the same show), but that can be tricky sometimes.
- Basically, my average rating lies somewhere between 3 and 4; I wish this website allowed half stars, but like, in a school way of doing things, so we could have 3+ and 4-, because it does make a difference.
Alright, that's it for now. To be continued (or not).
A RATING MANUAL BY ME (part 1)
I try and rate every watched episode since 2013 (it was my New Year's resolution). Sometimes I just go with followmy.tv's way: 1: poor; 2: nothing special; 3: worth watching; 4: pretty cool; 5: awesome, and see what best fits my feelings after watching something. In time I also came up with a tactic that helps me do it. And so, this is how I do it:
- First of all, you should know that it's quite hard to explain, because rating depends on my mood, a type of a show - procedural, comedy, sci-fi etc., also on my general love for said show.
- When I start watching an episode of a show I like, I usually am on a 3 (it's a 4 when it's a show I love/am obsessed with at the moment; and a 2 when I only watch out of habit), and I add or take away the stars, depending on what happens.
- If a plot is interesting and/or we get character development, or incredible acting, or cute shippy scenes, or scenes that make me cry (or really laugh), or an unexpected (in a good way) twist or OMG/WTF? moment, such episode gets 4 stars (5, if we get all of this at once).
- I will also more likely give 4 stars to pilots and series/season finales (see: Smash).
- 5 stars are for my absolutely favourite episodes that have something special about them.... you know, that X factor ;)
- 3 stars I rate medicore episodes with, or boring ones, or when I can't decide, or when an idea for a plot is good, but poorly executed, or when something bad happens and I wanted the opposite of this (but I still think an episode was pretty good in general).
- For a while I was hesitant towards 2 stars rating (you either like something or you don't - and for me liking something deserves 3 stars as well as 5), but now I'm fine with it. If an episode is incredible boring, or bad, or whatever, but there are still some things about it that I like, I give it 2 stars.
yeeeeees it is I, booboo~:D
I had no idea it was back either! I saw this morning the episode listed here and went to look for it! :/ But yes!
No, yes and yes :) I've been meaning to (and you and your posts were making me want to) watch it for some time now, so when I was cleaning my bookmarks and found out that my season 1 links from a long time ago are still working, I'd decided to give it a try. And I really really really like it! Sometimes even more than British version? (Don't tell my sister I said that, she would probably stop talking to me :D) They follow the same story (but I think you said that changes in s2?), but not word by word, they add some awesome stuff (I really loved Josh's family), it's a little bit darker and less silly and it works for me :) Also, I love everyone. And ship everything. And the music is flawless. And if you excuse me now, I'm going to start season 2.
Never-ending circles aren't dead romantic, but I guess they are better than dragging this storyline for x more seasons. I have OTPs with worse endings :D And at least Iwan and Antonia can move to better things now.
Young James Herriot is... cute fun with lots of Scottish accent as a bonus (David Tennant totally should have been in this... oh well, David Tennant should be in everything :D). I watched it mainly for Amy Manson and her face, but I did enjoy it. Great cast, lots of pretty shots for picspamming, and Iain de Caestecker with puppies! Perfect for long winter afternoon when you don't want to cry or think too much.
Yes :) I've decided to spend the rest of the year in bed and catch up on all my tv shows. And yesterday was Misfits time.
I have mixed feelings about this season, but I really loved some stuff ("I'm a fucking rocket scientist.", Seth/Kelly, even that Simon/Alisha ending... I mean, it was sad and I'm gonna miss them, but I like how they ended their story.)
Exactly! That's why I liked it! I'll let you know once I'm done with the rest of the episodes!
I've only watched the first episode! It was slightly disgusting, but in the good ("this is real, this is how relationships go") way :D. THE DICK DANCE!
"lizzymaxia is following Unforgettable"
Heeeee! <3 I'm glad because not enough people is watching The Wonderful Adventures of Poppy Montgomery's Flawless Hair!
Sometimes I forget there will never ever be more Sarah Jane Adventures :( It's weird. And sad :((( And Lis is so pretty in this season. But Rani and Clyde as 11's companions would be cool. They are already "trained" for these things! I'm not really sure how Moffat feels about SJA but I fear it's not happening :(
IT'S TIME TO START TAKING YOUR ROBOT BABY RESPONSIBILITY SERIOUSLY! Aga, this show is seriously killing me :D
And now if you excuse me, I'm going to re-watch some Game of Thrones because apparently Emun Elliott is in it and I'm like WHAAAAT?
Yes, I did!
I was going to marathon it, but then I watched first two episodes and it made me sad :( So I think I will just save it for happier days. Or maybe for some really really crappy day when I'll need an excuse for crying.
Because <3, but ;(((((
Hi,
Saw on twitter that one of your shows disapeared from our database, we currently import our listing of shows from the tv rage database, changes on the TV rage database will thus be reflected into our database after each database refresh. So if you would like a show to be added to followmytv just add the information into the tv rage database :-)
