Concerned for their safety, the group makes a plan – one that Hershel disagrees with adamantly. He makes it clear the group is fine to stay for now, but not indefinitely.

@kakature
I was talking about how you basically said that I believed the show was AMC quality. I simply compared the pacing and the types of shows. There are clearly higher quality shows, but they all have roughly the same pacing and basic template.
1. I thought when you were praising the source material, that you had read it. I will go with confusion on this one. The after show actually explained a lot of the need for change and the direction on this one.
2. I don't think its a bad thing, but I do know that if it is on a certain network, you will be all over it, more than anyone on here. You have a very clear taste. Maybe that is a better way of putting it. As for news, I have added descriptions to and followed just about every new show that is coming out, so you are better off reading my activity once in a while. I get lazy when it comes to updating people, now. There are some nice shows coming out on your favorite networks.
3. I think there is a lot more than just make it good or not, that goes on. Most shows speed up and slow down all the time. Take Farscape for example. It started off with 14 straight character building episodes. I don't know how they ever survived, but the show was as slow as could possibly be. When they finally kicked out of it, the show ended up being one of the more enjoyable sci-fi shows.
I watch shows to wait for the good parts. I accept the bad, to wait for the good. Few shows have ever been able to hold up for full seasons and even fewer can do it over and over. I start every episode hoping that it will be good, that is how I am. Do I stop watching shows? Sure, all the time.
Just to be clear, never have I actually defended the quality of this show. I was speaking in general, about all shows. I don't know how this turned into three straight people only reading part of what I said.
People all knew the second half of the first season slowed down. It started too fast, for what it actually was.
@ColeFrost I didn't think the entire quote was necessary. I don't think it changes anything about your or my opinion. But fair enough, my bad.
1. Agreed. I've never read the comics though.
However, I have read A Song Of Ice & Fire and I liked season/book 1 more on television.
And I'm still not sure which is better: the LOTR movies or books.
2. Sure, I have no problem with that. You make it sound like it's a bad thing. Whose taste isn't predictable?
Feel free to post any news on my wall by the way.
3. So they're saying only the second half of the season is good? I just don't get that, it's the same discussion I had with someone over Dexter (http://followmy.tv/episodes/1039342/Dexter/6x06/Just_Let_Go).
If you can't provide 12 good episodes, don't make 12 then, in my opinion.
To clarify: I have no problem with the occasional filler episode, but not 50 % of the episodes.
By the way: last season they still had a full budget and you have got to be honest here: it just wasn't as good as anyone had hoped.
@kakature
If you are going to quote me, at least take the whole thing. No need to put words in my mouth when I was talking about it being on AMC. I didn't compare the quality, at any point.
"People just don't get that this show is on AMC. Same network that does Mad Men, Breaking Bad, and The Killing. What do they have in common? None of them are fast paced. They are all dramas where people talk a lot and occasionally something big happens."
---------
As I have continued to state, I don't care about what people think of this show, nor have I praised it at any point. Any opinion I gave fell more in the middle, than anything.
I do have three things to say, though.
1. People that read source material aren't taken as seriously as regular people. It is called being too close. Nothing will ever live up to source material. Everyone knows this. Just wait until Game of Thrones next year. Everyone and their brother have read the books now. I can't wait to see all the comment sections... sigh...
2. Your taste is predictable. This is why I almost posted this on your comments section yesterday. I was too lazy, but the point is that I already knew where you stood before you even typed that. This is actually a bit of a waste of my time. I can predict your comments better than anyone else on this site.
3. They have done 6 episodes this season. They stated they lost some of their budget, that most of the good stuff happens in the second half of the season, and so on... As I have constantly stated, people are free to not watch. If people hate a show so much after a 6 episode season, they probably shouldn't be watching. I watch a lot of shows without "full concentration", but I don't go running and crying about them all the time, like some do.
@Aiii "It's not terrible at all. It's people's expectations of what the show is supposed to be about is what's terrible. This is a dramaseries about people living in a post-apocolyptic world. What it's not is a zombie slasher flick."
Hang on a minute. Nothing wrong with trying to be a dramaseries. But do it right then. This is no drama series, this is just wannabe. You can't ever compare this to true drama series (on AMC even) like Mad Men & Breaking Bad.
@ColeFrost "People just don't get that this show is on AMC"
I had such high hopes for this just because it's on AMC. But they have never met the expectations to be honest (same with The Killing in my opinion). As I said: can't compare this to real drama series on AMC (or HBO/Showtime for that matter).
Character building & stuff: I love it. But not in this way.
I just don't get how they managed to fuck this up with great source material like that, it's a real damn shame.
And why I keep watching? After all, it's still zombies! But to be honest I watch it while surfing the internet or something, it's not good enough for me to be watching this with full concentration.
@linker
A lot of shows do it. It is a soap opera style, but in a single episode form. Soap operas have 4 bad episodes, then a cliffhanger episode on Fridays, in order to get people to come back.
They have stated that this show is supposed to pick up in the second half of the season. My point, all along, has been that it doesn't hurt to point out both the good and the bad. Somewhere along the way, it became all about being the first to point out how bad the show is every episode, then slam anyone who doesn't agree. I hate when forums all over the web do this, I was rather hoping for a more mature approach here.
Basically, after a certain amount of episodes, those that hate it should either give up on the show or give up on talking about it, those that don't already get it. I honestly am starting to see people get turned off from commenting.
So basically, once again, not about the show. I don't care about this show or any other show, enough to continuously slam . If I give up on it that much, I won't be watching it anymore. This is true of any show.
@ColeFrost I don't think that the show is actually bad, rather that the season so far has been rather bland. I agree with you that merely stating that the show 'sucks' is rather succinct and pretty uninteresting ... unless It actually sucks 'donkey balls' pardon me the expression.
The matter with this show is mainly that it is always building our expectation only to disappoint thereafter. A show shouldn't just rely on 30seconds of build up at the end of the episode just to keep people on watching while the rest of the episodes remain pretty interesting.
It is rather this act that upset us, disappoint us and yet make us keep on watching it. That slight glimpse of hope they give us at each episode ending.
@linker
Alright, the second person defending how bad the show is. My posts were more about the site than the show. To quote my own opinion of the show, from my first post on here, "I'm not saying this is a great show or praising any show on here, but if you don't like something, don't watch it".
This whole thing has been about the way people have been acting on this site and how it is starting to carry over to new people who think it is cool. I honestly never intended it as a discussion of the show. I don't care if any of you watch the show or not.
What you said though, it isn't necessarily wrong. I will wait until the season is over to form an opinion myself. I won't be leaving the show, though. I still like the ideas, but you are right, it does need to play out better.
@ColeFrost I personally don't think that the comments about the degraded quality of this show has anything to do with its paced, the truth is the story doesn't involve nearly as much character building as other AMC series, leaving it pretty much devoid of attribute. They had done an amazing job with the first season, the novelty of the new characters, a faster and more action focused pace all gave us a quite favorable impression of the show. And yes we have been spoiled, but truth hadn't we been spoiled that way I don't think I would still be watching that show hoping to witness some of the greatness I had become accustomed to during the first season. The truth is this season so far is subpar in relation to other AMC series, but we can only hope the show will start picking up either in character building or in action otherwise I don't think it will be airing for much longer.
@oranges
Out of room again, final thoughts:
Your thoughts matter, in my opinion. It is more about the people that just post over and over. It's like if you hate it that much, leave. So many shows strike gold late and on here, not everyone can access episodes later. Those that stick around get it and don't need to hear it over and over.
I value opinions, but I like to see them come from somewhere. I try to give both sides when someone asks, but everyone just seems to want to lay it on the bad side, which is my whole point. Somewhere along the way it became cool to tear into shows and to never post the good side. It is somehow cool now to be the first to say something bad and to only post on bad episodes.
I just want people to be able to pace themselves, make their own decisions, and not feel like idiots for sticking with something that they like. People should watch what they like.
Past examples of how shows played out should be the best way of showing how things are. If this site had opened ten years ago, how do you think some of the shows on your list would have looked on here?
My entire point is, don't forget the good.
Edit, Side Note: These three posts may seem like gibberish. The character limiter kept cutting me off and I accidentally lost some of the second post and had to chop up all 3. I had a little trouble bringing it all together, due to that.
@oranges
If you look at examples from the past, shows are unpredictable. I try to avoid running people off until enough can truly be established to go on. I prefer to let them make their own decisions, as often as possible. If people are still hanging around at a certain point, they don't care about hearing over and over that an episode sucks or anything similar. They have already decided to hang in. On occasion, sure. A bad episode should be pointed out. Eventually, though, you have to assume people get it.
I also feel that many other shows are misunderstood. It doesn't make them good, but it wouldn't hurt people to understand them better, before commenting. Take Terra Nova. The show is about the family, is in an 8 p.m. timeslot, and it has been stated that it picks up in the second half of it's episode run. I mean the whole having the family be the only thing in the title sequence should be enough of a hint that the show is aimed towards families. It is fine for something to watch with your kids, but has been slowly doing enough to win over older people as well. It could eventually settle into that coveted 18-49 demo, but maybe it doesn't.
I just feel like enough is enough with running people off. Not you doing it, I'm just saying too many people are thinking it is cool or something. It's not. Let people try shows and make their own decisions. That is why I always try to give both sides whenever I am asked my opinion. I know that some people like things, some don't. I don't think of myself as the type of person who was gifted in giving deadly accurate reviews to the point where I can read minds.
@oranges
I feel that everyone is free to post any comment they wish, but they also will be treated the way they present themselves. I was more commenting on curve telling Aiii that he shouldn't be commenting.
I am well aware of your comments recently and I didn't see them to be pointless. Stating your opinion the way you do is cool. You haven't been posting multiple times about it on the same page, you have the decency to pick your targets when they deserve it, and you walk away/go quiet when you deem it right. I respect it. I don't respect the way many others have been, on various shows.
I prefer to take every show on a case-by-case basis. Examples:
-I factor in articles that talk about people involved. (For example, this show has long been stated to pick up as the season goes on).
-The network a show is on makes a huge difference (As previously stated about this being on AMC). Since I am one of the few Americans, I may have a better understanding of this one thing, for the obvious reason of most of the popular networks/shows being American.
-What a show is actually about, makes a huge difference. As @Aiii stated, this is about, "people living in a post-apocolyptic world". If you watch the after show, they actually state that the people have no clue what they are doing and are trying to stay alive. They live in a world where this whole dealing with zombie thing is new to them and not that much time has passed since it all started. The most important man behind this show, Robert Kirkman, makes some appearances on it and does a lot of explaining.
-I care about many other things as well, like budget, potential, acting, etc. Too much to list, but also a lot that needs to be compiled before a true decision can be made.
I am running out of room. I will continue this in a new post.
@ColeFrost Thanks for the reality check. I feel guilty of pointless comments recently also :)
Having said that I still think this show is properly bad now, and I have stopped watching it. I love a good drama, but from what I've seen (only -2x03) everything just stopped. They were looking for the girl for a bunch of episodes, but not -really- doing anything about it. It is/was just a reason to stay put for a bit in my eyes. The car(s) could've broken down and it would have been the same. I remember a pretty pointless flashback to a school day. The entire shaving/showering/murder scene was predictable and unrealistic. Dialogue and character behaviour all-round.
Gosh I really do find this show just awful now. Anyway, just saying there are legitimate reasons to critique, or complain about a show. But I like your sentiment.
What's al this bias.. i still like the show, dont't see any difference with the previous season, if you dont like it then stop watching. Its a good show if you ask me.
@Aiii
I agree with you. People just don't get that this show is on AMC. Same network that does Mad Men, Breaking Bad, and The Killing. What do they have in common? None of them are fast paced. They are all dramas where people talk a lot and occasionally something big happens.
People got spoiled by the first few episodes and now they can't stand a little character building. The acting isn't poor and the story more or less fits what would happen if people ended up together in this type of situation.
@curve
I'm not exactly understanding why you and others are leading this sudden charge of having to pitch a fit about every show or episode you think is subpar, but it is quite annoying. You are telling Aiii that he shouldn't comment, well what about you? All your comments are complaints, tiny praises, or they simply point out that questions aren't being answered.
Maybe you should learn to sit back and see where something actually goes. There isn't a need to pitch a fit about every single episode you watch. As for all your questions, try doing some research. For example, this show has an after show called Talking Dead, which actually explains all these questions you seem to have about it.
I'm not saying this is a great show or praising any show on here, but if you don't like something, don't watch it. At this point, I am beginning to just mentally filter certain people on here that are bringing down the comments. I didn't care until you decided to call out Aiii, which was quite the joke.
true zombieparty in the barn!! w000t
Only the end was worth anything honestly the rest of the episode bored me to death.
Well then, given your great examples I have no choice but to yield this discussion.
Aiii you can't be serious right? There are so many flaws that it's ridiculous. If you don't see that you shouldn't comment on the quality of series.
It's not terrible at all. It's people's expectations of what the show is supposed to be about is what's terrible. This is a dramaseries about people living in a post-apocolyptic world. What it's not is a zombie slasher flick.
this show is on its good way to become hurtful. now it's just awful 2/5
