@ artifex, you can make up that fake argument about it being this social study and deep thinking drama but this is not how the show got it's start or it's following. It is a filler so far and shows are notorious for doing this when they get a following just to fill episodes (example, FRINGE, used to do this constantly). I still watch, but it's more of a in the background show that I DVR and watch when i am doing chores around the house, as opposed to what it used to be: where i used to have to watch it live bc my friends would be talking about it as soon as it was over. Sadly, no one ever talks this show anymore.
I kind of have to fight to keep myself invested in this show but episodes like that last midseason finale are the payoff. I don't really know what everyone sees in this show, i'd say it's pretty good at best, but hey, to each his own

To all the people who now say: 'These sort of episodes are why I watch this show!'
Walking Dead isn't just a zombie action, you guys should know that by now. If you don't want to see the rest because: 'It's a filler' I'm happy to notify you when there's lot's of action so you can watch only those episodes. I myself keep on enjoying the whole show, which is, like I said before, about a struggle of humanity as well as for humanity. It's not dawn of the dead in series format. Honestly, why do you watch it if all you guys enjoy is the action?
The argument about this show not being realistic is the silliest I've ever heard. Let's presume zombies are real, then this is what would really happen. (At least in a country were there are so many guns, Europe would be a different story) I've given lots of arguments to support this statement, and I would be happy to look them up again if anyone asks for it.
In real-life, people are pretty unpredictable, especially in stressful, unique situations. Also, we have no clue what is happening in the rest of the world, so if you are amongst those who think that there's got to be civilization left somewhere (To which I would agree), that's probably true, just not anywhere near Rick and his followers.
My point is, what makes the 'haters' of this show keep watching, even though you only like the shows filled with action? (If you look at my showlist, you'd see I'm not in particular a fan of drama, but the Walking Dead somehow really draws my attention, why not yours?)
SHOW SPOILER Hershel's head should have rolled the first time the governor struck the sword. It would have been much more epic
@dafour I agree. Doesn't do shit for me.
@dafour I don't think it is, it has almost as much haters as lovers. So it can hardly be overrated then.
Overrated
Best show ever in my opinion!!!
@TotesMcGotes I've heard that that stays pretty true to the comic universe as well. Been meaning to check it out. Thanks!
@Mattman335 the video game is even better
every season starts with a whole lot of drama, but in the end it turns out great.
bullshit counter - over 9000
someone who can fuck up so little series universe must be genius
@Mattman335 Tks for the tip!
The show is good but the comics are better. The comic medium allows for much richer storytelling and character development that can't be captured on an hour tv episode. I enjoy the the show for sure, and the effects and zombie make-up are astounding, but as a reader of the comics, the show is taking a very pussified stance on events that happened in the books. The governor is 1000-times more brutal and terrible than he is made out in the show and different characters die/live, etc... After season 3 the show has strayed very far from the original comic vision. I'm going to keep watching, but more importantly I'm going to keep reading. I suggest you do yourself a favor and do the same. You shan't be disappointed.
@Gir first season didn't have the cry-ing parts that make you pull your face off.
@alexisdhondt but that is what makes it a drama.
@Artifex I find it a very good show but they should stop the chatting-crap. It really goes too damn slow
I see Hobbes in here.
So many haters. I love the show personally. It shows how idiotic most human beings are and especially season 3 has a really nice few on relations between different groups, survival instinct and all that. It really doesn't matter if you don't like the show, but if you think people won't act stupid like the characters in this show do, then that's pretty ironic, because that means you're stupid (that's just my attempt at a joke, but seriously, people act like that). Also, this show would be pretty boring with nothing but Vulcans running around all logically and stuff.
